Article #2: Commit to God
Psalm 37:5 "Commit everything you do to the Lord, trust Him, and He will help you." (NLT)
Have you been experiencing a lot of frustrations lately? Have you been wishing and hoping that things will just settle down so that you can have peace of mind to do all the other things that bring you joy? You are not alone. There are lots of people in this state and wish they could get out of this rut.
The Word of God in Psalm 37:5 is telling us to commit everything to the LORD. Not just some things but everything. At times we feel that we can handle some things on our own and frankly we have done a poor job. The LORD is saying we ought to commit everything—small, medium or large—we do to Him. Why? Because He is interested in all the details of your life. And most importantly, He is interested in your progress and success more than you are. You see, friends, when you are successful it brings a smile on the LORD's face and He surely delights in the success, progress and prosperity of His children. This is biblical and you should check it out.
Christ is also saying, "Don't only commit everything to me but TRUST ME!" Wow! Committing is one thing and trust is another. Christ is saying do both and then you will see the results.
Today and for the rest of your life commit everything—I mean everything—to the LORD. Trust Him and surely He will help you. When God says I will help you, He is serious about that. He cannot lie and His reputation is on the line! Commit everything and just allow Him through His divine power and love to amaze you.
Action Exercise
1. Make a list of things you want to commit to the LORD.
2. Bring the list to Him through prayer and thanksgiving.
3. Leave it to Him and just trust Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus I thank you for this verse of Scripture. Today I bring to you my life, my joy, my anxiety, my financial challenges, my family, and all the other challenges I have. Lord Jesus, please help me through these challenges according to your Word. I trust you. Amen.
