Article #5: God is our Refuge

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.'" (NKJV)

By the reports we read, we are living in "troubled" times. The economy has still not fully recovered, jobs are still being threatened or lost, budgets are tight, relationships are in trouble because of financial challenges, people's health is challenged because of toxic emotions and negative thinking.

In Isaiah 46: 4 the Lord says, "I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you. I will sustain you and rescue you." There comes a time in everyone's life when we learn to turn the page, as difficult as that may be, and enter into a new chapter in our lives. And when we do we will find Jesus right there to help us with every step we take.

It is very easy at times to let the Devil steal our joy. There are times when we feel down, because of the circumstances that we go through. But God remains "our refuge and our strength, a very PRESENT help in times of trouble."

Remember that God sets us apart, like He set apart the land of Goshen for the people of Israel (read Exodus 8:23). God shifts the wind for His people. He changes bad things to work for good. The Lord our God fights on our behalf. We do not go through anything alone. When Moses stretched forth his hand as God commanded, a great darkness fell upon the land. The Egyptians lived in total darkness but all the sons of Israel had light in their dwellings. We are kept in the light. God lights our way and keeps us in perfect peace.

Keep your line of communication open between God and yourself. Hang on to God's promises when the going gets rough. These are the words that strengthen you and carry you through the rough times. God tells us in His Word that He is crowning us with lovingkindness and tender mercies. His Word tells us He will never leave us nor forsake us. What have we to fear? He loves us and keeps us safe.

Remember your help comes from the Lord. He fights on your behalf. Start praising Him for His keeping power and start praising Him, for the answer is on its way. Start acting on His Word and rejoice in victory.
